Ooey Gooey Microwave Kettle Corn

I really enjoy a good snack and one of my favorite is Kettle Corn. I don't get it often because the one place that usually has it only takes cash and well, I don't carry any cash! So I was left to my own devices to come up with something that tasted similar and came up with this. It isn't the same texture as the kettle corn you might get at a fair but it tastes pretty darn close!

14 Days of Valentines Day with Free Printable

Last year around this time, I was introduced to Pinterest. It was during the time when you had to have an invite to come and my mom's secretary invited me! I was super excited and it is where all of this blog really got going!

Any ways, one of my very first pins was this. It was the 14 days of Valentines and I jumped on it. I think I pinned it on the 29th or 30th and went shopping that day! I was still figuring out mommy hood (and still am to be honest) but wanted to do something special for my wonderful hubby! Well this year, I took a little bit more time to plan it and wanted to share my ideas with you. There are TONS on Pinterest but these are things that Maxwell loves. He absolutely LOVED it last year so I was excited to start planning this year.

I love it because it takes a little creativity but once you finish shopping, you'll be set! Some of my items aren't in this picture because they are better freshly baked :) So here is my list:

Dutch Chocolate Marshmallows

If you haven't discovered yet, I LOVE marshmallows! I love all things sugary: cotton candy, candy, cake with lots of frosting but most of all marshmallows!

Verse of the Week Chalkboard

Last week as I was pursing Pinterest, I saw this board and thought it would be a wonderful idea but didn't like the style of it and thought I could do it for a lot less money! We had a blank wall in our family room and I thought it would be great for that. I love this idea as it is such a great reminder of what our focus should be.

Fun, Wintery Bunting

It's "COLD"!!!

So this is not a typical post but I found this hilarious! Last night as Max and I were getting ready for bed, we were talking about our crazy cold weather we've been having. I have been FREEZING!!! But for those of you who are not in Souther California or for those who have never lived here, you'd say that it isn't cold. It's been low to mid 50's during the day and high 20's at night. Here's a little video that tells you how we are all feeling!



No I will say that I don't think Southern Californians homes have much insulation, so it is cold inside our house without heat on and we avoid heat because our homes don't heat well. We also don't have the clothes to help us stay warm in this weather. Come on, we where flip flops 365 days a year ;-)

So enjoy a laugh at our expense! And know that we are FREEZING out here!

Simple Sewing Machine Cover

About a month ago, as I was laying in bed not able to sleep, I thought, "I need a cover for my sewing machine!" Such a woman right!?! But the thought got placed in the back of my head as we went through the crazy month of December until I saw super this cute cover that Raising Up Rubies made.

Simple Blanket Storage

Do you have a blanket in your living space that just never has a place? I did and I tried folding it and hanging it over the back of our couch but it still was just in the way. We are living with my mom and are utilizing every bit of space we can, so we had to get creative!

My wonderfully, creative hubby came up with this idea. Why not install a towel rack to the side of our entertainment center? You could add these to the wall as well but we just don't have any more wall space. This is working like a gem and I love that I can put the blanket away when I'm ready!

The great thing is that we could easily add more down the side of the unit to add more blankets and I just love that it's out of the way and I think it looks pretty good nicely hung up!

Goals!

It has been a long time since I wrote out goals for myself but this year, I wanted to do so. Our pastor spoke this weekend about being intentional about not being busy. Busy with things that don't truly matter and that distract us from our internal time to grow. We are too often so "busy" with things that aren't important and I have decided that writing out goals will help to stay focused and away from being busy.

So here are my goals for the year:

1. Take intentional time to pray and read the Bible EVERYDAY! It is so easy for me to get involved with other things but this needs to be my #1 priority!
2. Get more organized in every aspect of life: house, blog, etc.
3. Grow this blog. I love blogging and the amazing blog world and I would love for this little blog of mine to grow!
4. Create! I want to continue to use my newish found love of crafting and create awesome things to make my home feel more homey!

What are some goals you have this year?

We Got an Awesome Gift!

Well, we actually got quite a few awesome gifts for Christmas but this one we got to open today and I love it. My mother-in-law did great! She found this idea on Pinterest. I had actually seen it too and showed it to Max and he thought it was a cool idea too but neither of us remember it obviously.

Anyways, here's the idea. There are 12 envelopes, one for each month. You open one envelope a month and there is a date in each one! Paid for and already planned out. Isn't that so fun!

So today being January 1st, we got to open the first envelope! I brought it into our bedroom way to early for Max but I was excited!

 This is what we found inside. Another envelope that was sealed and said "Happy Anniversary. Back where it first started!" It was a Brigantine gift certificate. That was the place of our first date way back 5 1/2 years ago. It was somewhat a disaster of a date but now we are married and we laugh about the awkward date turned even more awkward. (I'll write out our story in a few days when we celebrate our wedding anniversary!)

I'm excited that we get to go on a few dates this month!!! Thanks Betty for the great gift!
