Tradition: a belief or behavior with significance, passed down from one generation to another.

Traditions are so important to building great memories and teaching our beliefs to our children through those traditions. My family was full of traditions and those traditions mattered to me and added much security to my always changing life as a kid. I was split between two homes as a child but knowing what as coming (traditions) at each house helped to make stability in my life.

Now as a parent, I see the value of creating our own traditions with our family. In Noel Piper's book, "Treasuring God in our Traditions," she states that,
"The things we do regularly that help us in our deepest being to know and love and want God, the things that help our lives to be infiltrated with God-those things are traditions. And then if there are children in our lives, to pass these God-focused activities to the next generations--that's what tradition is for a Christian."
Not all traditions center around God specifically but for example, celebrating birthdays celebrate the gift God has given us in the blessings of our children, husbands, family and friends. Celebrating them and making them feel special is part of thanking God for those blessings!

So whether it's a birthday or a holiday, I love making people feel loved and celebrated and making holidays important! I put a lot of effort into parties and things I do to celebrate because it means so much to me and now means a ton to my son! He really appreciates and enjoys celebrating and I love that about him! I hope I can inspire you to build your own traditions and make them your own!

12 Days of Christmas

Each year we've been married my husband and I have celebrated 12 days of Christmas. It is the 12 days leading up to Christmas and is full of family fun!

Christmas Traditions

Birthday's are a BIG deal to me. My mom always made birthday's special and created the love for celebrating that special person's special day! We have a few birthday day traditions and each kid gets a special party for their birthday.

Other Holiday Traditions and Fun!
